Lately, I’ve been coaching a lot of powerful women on self-confidence and what it takes to truly acknowledge who you are and how to make an impact.
We all struggle.
Some of us, find comfort in the struggle and begin a pattern of self-sabotage.
Some of us, move away from the pain and into the possibility.
So… I wrote this in hopes to get you back on track.
The holidays can get stressful.
But it’s not the stress that destroys us, it’s our attitude about the stress.
Dear _____,
Anything is possible.
Henry Ford said it best, “Whether you think you can, or think you can’t, you’re right.”
You are about to embark on a journey that most people, will never be able to relate to.
The people closest to you, may not understand you any more.
They may not “get” what you want to do with your life, why you want to do it, now that you have this opportunity to change it again.
It’s not going to be easy.
You will be tested.
You will be beat down.
People will judge you.
Family, friends, coworkers, peers will try to all tell you what you want isn’t achievable.
But you know what…
Just because it’s not achievable for them doesn’t mean it isn’t achievable for you.
This is your time to dream big.
Think of all the mistakes you’ve made, the lessons you’ve learned and realize, you never have to make them again.
Have a sad, long, ugly cry. Write down everything about your life that makes you upset, hurt, heartbroken. Write down names of those who hurt you, broke you, treated you unfairly.
Then rip that paper into a thousand pieces. Or light it on fire. Spit on it.
And PROMISE yourself, you are not going to lament on the past.
Want to know why? Because it is now behind you.
You’re not going back to the past.
To the people that destroyed your unshakeable soul.
You’re going forward. To your dreams. To your own definition of what achievement is.
Have a happy cry, full of gratitude.
Write down the names of everyone you love.
Everything you love. Everything you want.
Your dreams for a better tomorrow.
Put that in your pocket. Frame it. KEEP IT.
You will find an opportunity everywhere.
Opportunity is everywhere.
It may not be the highest paying or most glamourous, but take it.
Use it as leverage to get to where you need to go. Where you want to go.
For yourself, For the list of people you love.
Take yourself out for a pedicure.
Go to a restaurant.
Because you are going to work hard.
Harder than you ever fucking have.
Because you now have
The belief that “Anything is possible.”
You have to have it in yourself to want to make the difference, nobody will want to make a change for you.
Nobody will want to get you your dream job.
Nobody will love your family as much as you can.
People are good, they want to help, but nobody can improve your life more than you.
You can make things happen.
Stay positive and cling to your list when positivity is difficult.
Remind yourself, “It’s not an option to go back.”
Because you burned that piece of paper about the past.
It doesn’t exist.
It molded you.
It shaped you.
BUT it isn’t who YOU ARE.
Anything is possible.
And when that is tested,
Cling to this:
“Whether you think you can, or think you can’t, you’re right.”
I believe in you.
